Dreamers' Policies
Herein you will find the laws we live by. Please read them carefully. If you don't understand something, ask for clarification.
Forums and Website Tools
Forums/Portal
While there is no "official" policy requiring you to go to the forums, a lot of discussion, planning and decisions are made there. It's also a good place to get to know one another and find out what's happening among your guildies in and out of game.
The short of it is: Go to the forums and get involved. Ten minutes out of your day before you log in or while you're waiting in Queue is not gonna kill you.
Raid Tool
Any scheduled raid will give precedence to those who took the time to sign up. They may even elect to just run the raid with less than the max number. This is entirely within the raid leader's control.
Ping the raid tool every morning along with your coffee (or whatever you drink) to see if there's any new raids online.
Who Can Apply?
We require your Main Character to be in Dreamers. Alts are more flexible.
Things We Don't Like
We run things pretty fast and loose and realize sometimes folks are having a bad day, etc. However, your bad day should not be foisted upon the guild. Which is why we run by a three strike rule except for members on a trial period and in the more extreme cases.
New Applicants still in their Trial Period
For all but the most minor of offenses we only allow ONE STRIKE, no exceptions. Should a new applicant break the rules set forth in the policies it should be brought to the attention of an officer and they will be summarily removed from the dreamers roster with an in-game mail, and forum PM explaining our reasons for doing so. At this point the applicant may make an appeal which will be judged on a case by case basis. Should the applicant have a second offense, they will be removed permanently with no course for appeal.
Three Strike Offenses
The Three Stike Policy is quite simple. If you get a warning from an officer (you will know you got one) you will be on 4 week probation. The warning will be noted in a private officer forum. If within that 4 week period, you get another warning, the 4 week probation is increased to 6 weeks from the time of the second warning. This is also noted in the officers forum. If you receive a 3rd warning in that time period, you will be removed from the guild.
- Malicious racial, religious, or sexual orientation slurs are not tolerated. Saying things like "man that's gay" are frowned upon. It's just not nice and will likely get you a request to refrain from that. Further usage will get you a strike.
- We allow light swearing (damn, shit, hell, etc), but it is frowned upon before 8PM CST. Repeated swearing in a short time frame will result in a request for you to stop. If you continue, a strike will be issued.
- Spamming guildchat with links, references to Chuck Norris, or essentially flooding guildchat with nonsense of this nature will get you a strike and likely "muted" from talking in guildchat.
- Disparaging a guildmate. What the heck does that mean? Well if, for instance, you go on a guild run and someone doesn't want to stay and try a boss again after the raid ending time has been met...there's absolutely no cause for talking down or bad about that person (if it's before the raid ending time, that's something for the raid leader to act on or bring to the officers). Folks play this game for different reasons and there's no need to be critical of them for it. If you feel someone has stepped over the line, you talk with an officer. You do not take matters into your own hands. Yes, this includes teamspeak, guild chat, officer chat, etc.
- Political or Religious discussions are not welcome in guildchat. If you wish to discuss them or argue about them, do it elsewhere in a seperate channel. Dreamers is an organization of many backgrounds and mindsets and we don't need high-tension, potentially inflammatory discussions such as these in guildchat.
In extreme cases where all officers agree, 3 strikes may not be required for removal.
Insta-Kick Offenses
We do not fool around here. There are no exceptions. We are here to have fun and if you can't play nice, you can play elsewhere.
- Cheating/Hacks are not tolerated and will be grounds for immediate removal.
- Ninja-Looting is not tolerated. Mistakes happen, but given the things you have to click to actually loot something it takes a bit of convincing.
- Asking for, advertising, or encouraging gold buying. It's against the TOS, and will result in an immediate gkick
Things We Do Like
We're all in this together. An item which you lose out on or pass up is going to someone else who can use it! Be happy for them, because in the end, it's helping you as well!
Enchantments for guild members should be free for mats.
If you win an item on a guild raid and intend to sell it, it would be nice to offer it to guildies at a reduced price...or...free.
If a lower level member asks for help and you're free...go help them. :)
If a member is looking for help with something, lend a hand. What comes around goes around and it really does work for doing good deeds as well as bad.
Loot Policies
Dreamers is fundamentally an NBG (need before greed) guild. If you don't believe in this, you should be looking for another guild to join.
Standard Group
Groups can override this policy, as long as everyone agrees to it beforehand. Standard groups are NBG, 1 set/1 blue. If you win an item, you don't win another item unless no one else can use it. To win an item, you must be able to use the item and it must be an upgrade. Just be fair about things and if you've had an exceptionally good day, bow out of rolls or loot altogether. It's all about having fun with your guildmates. It's not always about getting your own upgrades. If you know someone else is gonna roll on an item who can really use it and it's a marginal upgrade for you, pass.
Also take into account the person who's going on a run specifically for item XXX. If they are passing on all other loot for this one item, you should give thought to not rolling on the item. It's not a hard and fast rule, but one of consideration.
In practise, most Dreamers dungeon crawls result in 4-5 minutes of item comparison, discussion, and profuse apologies for rolling Need on an item (per boss) :P. Dreamers really are an awesome group when it comes to loot distribution, and most times, established characters will pass over over an upgrade to someone getting a bigger upgrade.
Raid Lootz
Need Before Greed 1 Tier item/1 Epic (or 2 Epics), Raid Main before Raid Alt (unless the Raid Alt was specifically requested), MainSpec before OffSpec, rolling OffSpec does not count toward 2 item limit. Classes without OffSpec: Mage Rogue Warlock
Obsidian Sanctum: Free rolls on Dragon-Hide Bag (Unique until 3.1.0 patch) Obsidian Sanctum: Bag of Spoils can be rolled on if you haven't won anything in that run (contains either 5 Enblems of Heroism (10-man) or 5 Emblems of Valour (25-man), plus 50ish gold).
Also take into account the person who's going on a run specifically for item XXX. If they are passing on all other loot for this one item, you should give thought to not rolling on the item. It's not a hard and fast rule, but one of consideration.
- To win something, you must be able to use it.
- If you win something, you are not allowed to sell it... especially when we have people actually needing items.
- Blues/epics that drop are /random 100, need before greed basis.
If you are seen breaking these rules, you will be warned first, and then if you continue, you will be banned for two weeks from Dreamers runs.
Other
When asked about Treasure Chests on your application please respond with your favourite beverage and nothing more. Our general policy on Treasure Chests is NBG as always.
Raid Attendance Policies
Raid attendance is never mandatory. However, if you take the time to sign up for a raid, you are committing to that time. Don't make everyone wait on you! Get online early (we all know about the Queue, so plan accordingly), get repaired, get your regeants, get your potions, get your poisons...you know, get prepared... all before the raid starts. Then get your little tush to the raid location on time!!
Sign Ups
Raids will almost always have a signup slot in the Raid Signup Tool (part of the website). You are requested to sign up for any raid you plan to attend. If you are a maybe, put yourself in the queue and fill out the comment section of the sign up.
If you sign up, the raid leader is counting on your presence. If you decide you can't go, remove yourself from the sign up and post a message on the forum!! It's common courtesy.
If you continually abuse the sign up process, show up late or not at all, show up unprepared, you will likely be asked to stop signing up. It is unfair to your guild mates to make them wait on you or to have you be less than 100% because you came unprepared.
Ditching
Unless you've given good warning ahead of time or something unforseen comes up, you are to stay in guild groups until the objectives that you signed up for are completed or the raid or task is deemed unsuccessful.
If you sign up, you are expected to be there until the end, revolving doors in raids and parties are tiresome and they waste everyone's time. If you are unsure before you sign up for a raid whether or not you will be able to stay until the end of the raid, put yourself in queue and make your comment state why.
Real-life emergencies do happen and are acceptable reasons to leave a raid or group early, however if "emergencies" happen to you too often, expect to be put in the backup-queue involuntarily.
Guild Invites and Recruiting
To get an alternate invited to Dreamers, you must contact an officer, requesting an invite. Your main name must go into the Officer Notes in game. This is non-negotiable. It leaves a nice little "paper trail" so we know who is who.
It is also considered bad form to "poach" or actively recruit from other guilds. All this does is cause trouble, and let's face it, Dreamers is such a great guild that if they're unhappy where they are, they'll likely come here anyway.
Alternates
While we do not have an official policy on alternates, we strongly encourage you to keep any alternates you actually play within Dreamers. Furthermore, if you have alternates elsewhere, please make sure the guild is aware of where they are.
No one in Dreamers is obligated through guild responsibility to help your alternate in another guild. Period.
